During several seasons he was the radio play-by-play baseball broadcaster for the Wichita Pilots, the Albany (NY) Yankees, and on one occasion for the Minnesota Twins. In his early career, he worked at radio stations in several states, doing general broadcasting and announcing sporting events. Upon graduation he pursued radio broadcasting, training at Thief River Falls Technical College and later graduating from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College with a double major in Bible and Broadcasting Communications. In 1978, Dale graduated from high school in Perham, where he gained recognition in football, baseball, and wrestling. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Kate McConachie Crawford and Allie Mae McConachie. He married the love of his life, Geraldine (Geri) Hoffman on August 22, 1981.
